Welcome to the Lumber Yard

Innovative Design starts with our own lumber yard, yet it is not your typical lumber yard. We have reached out to locals in our area to contact us for tree stock removal and we collect trees from our Central Texas area and take them to our ranch for processing. We take a lot of pride in saving these trees from the burn pile. We consider this part of our "green" approach by re-purposing the tree.

Before using the wood there is a curing process that must take place. In order to create an environment of workable, long lasting, stable wood stock, the tree must go through a drying process:

First, we accomplish this by leaving the trees in the open air to dry naturally for years. Depending on the size and type of tree this can take two to three years and anything less just doesn't produce the quality that we need.

Second, we monitor the drying process by periodically checking them for natural evolution in the drying process. We may turn them or reposition them to create an equal weathering of the wood. We do not use any store bought energy, chemicals or outside contaminants other than the powerful Central Texas sun.

So the curing process is done and now we need to get the tree into a form that is workable for your design.

After drying for several years, we mill the trees into lumber. The old fashioned, true woodworking style of following the tree from earth to cut lumber. We then cart the blanks (sawmill speak for lumber) over to our woodworking design studio. At this point, we have the lumber we need for our custom projects.

While this is the story of the lumber yard, we now enter into the mission statement of how we create your personal, unique piece of art.
